Three decades of dedication

Hello, my name is Bill G Hanshew (since my Dad was Bill L, and my son is Bill W).

I have over 30 years of experience in building custom homes, condos, apartments, remodeling, general construction, and in woodworking.

I owned a commercial woodworking business, producing a long and fulfilling journey in the art of furniture making, cabinetry, and more.

After founding WoodWorks I, LLC, it was a few years later that I experienced some complications in my health that lead to a decision by my doctors advising me to close the doors in 2007. At that time I was forced to step away. 

After years filled with multiple health issues, several surgeries, a lot of rehab and plenty of set-backs, it was in 2025 that I once again approached woodworking, first as a therapeutic tool, and then as a hobby.

Today, MyWoodWorksHobby (also known as WoodWorks I, LLC) is my passion, where I craft unique pieces of furniture at least three days each week, turning my personal journey into cherished creations for you. 

Passion re-ignited, craft perfected.

There was a time in my journey where I believed that woodworking was a closed chapter in my life forever. And yet my faith, self-motivation, and an unwavering passion for the craft proved otherwise. 

Each project I make, from our custom checkerboard game tables, to requests for repairs and a variety of other woodworking projects, is infused with this renewed dedication. This isn't just about making items from wood; it's about pouring a lifetime of experience and a re-ignited love for the trade into every cut, joint, and finish, right here in Joplin, Missouri.
